PROGRAM

GymSouth bases its program on USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic Program
of Women’s Artistic Gymnastics.  Our skill sheets contain conditioning,
flexibility exercises, and skills that come directly from the J.O. Program.  This
enables our staff to evaluate and move students to the proper classes as
they complete skills for that certain level.  The levels begin with Pre-Level 1
and Level 1 and go through level 7.  This way we are able to evaluate those
students who posses the skills to move to competitive gymnastics.

GYM RULES

Please go over these with your children and (as a parent), know them as
well.

1.  No parents or spectators allowed in the gym during class time - *see
below
2.  Only registered students are allowed on the equipment and only during
class with a coach present
3.  No gum chewing, eating or drinking in the gym or waiting areas
4.  No running or horseplay
5.  Cheerleaders are allowed only on the floor-x
6.  No jewelry
7.  Students may arrive (no earlier) than 10 minutes before their scheduled
class is to begin and must be accompanied by a an adult until their class
begins.

Students are not allowed to be left unattended in the gym.

***The gym will open doors 15 minutes before the first class of the day
meets.
*You will be notified of special days that parents can come and observe
classes.

SAFETY

Your child's safety is our #1 concern.  There can, and will, be injuries in any
sport, Gymnastics and Cheerleading are no exception.  Our staff is very
safety conscious and we abide by the previously listed gym rules, this will
aid in GymSouth having a top-notch safety level.

PICK UP/DROP-OFF

There will be NO early drop offs this year.  A parent must stay with
their child until class begins.
Our staff is having a hard time
watching those that are dropped off early,as well as trying to teach
class. We will not be responsible for students that are dropped off
early.  Children are not allowed to stay in the gym unattended.  You
will be given a written warning if you drop off your child off without
supervision.  If there is a second offense, you will be fined $1.00 per
minute the child is left early.  If there is a third offense, you will be
asked to withdraw from classes at GymSouth.

Students are to be picked up promptly from class.  Parents have 10
minutes after class is dismissed to pick up your child.  This does not
mean that you can tack on 10 minutes to the class time.
 If your child
is left longer than the 10 minutes allowed, you will be given a
written warning.  Second offense is $1.00 for each minute your child
is left in the gym.  If there is a third offense, you will be asked to
withdraw from classes at GymSouth.

Please be prompt to pick up your child, again we will not be
responsible for your child outside of class time.

PERSONAL PROPERTY

Please do not allow your child to bring valuables to class.  GymSouth will not
be responsible for lost items.  We do have a Lost and Found basket next to
the cubbies.  I clean it out twice a year (December and May) and take any
clothing, etc... to the Salvation Army.

CLASS STRUCTURE

Gymnastics is a very disciplined sport.  Cheerleading is no longer limited to
the sidelines and has become a competitive sport.  Our classes are very
structured and our coaches expect good behavior.  You might even call our
method of teaching strict and rigid.  In the sports of gymnastics and
cheerleading, skills must be performed to perfection for success to be
achieved.  We run a tight ship but make our classes lots of fun at the same
time.  If your child is being disruptive in class or has to be disciplined during
class; I will discuss the matter with you after class and in private.

REWARD SYSTEM

This system is for Pre-School and Beginner classes.  This will help students
visualize their progress and set new goals.  Each child will receive a sticker
at the end of class.  If their behavior has been good, they take their sticker
home, if their behavior has not been good, they must place their sticker on
the 'board'.  At the end of each month, the students with no stickers on the
'board' will get a small prize out of the 'Happy Box".

HEALTH/DISABILITIES

If your child is absent from school on his/her gymnastics class day, do not
bring them to the gym.  Believe me, students tell our staff if they did not go
to school due to illness. If this happens we will call you to come pick them up
or sit them out for the remainder of class.  Do not send your child to class if
he or she is sick, period.  Physical Activity in children who are ill can worsen
their symptoms as well as make other students sick.

If your child has ANY sort of disability, (speech, hearing, learning, emotional,
etc.) be sure to notify a staff member so that we can do our best to teach in
a way that will be beneficial to your child.
